We have 29 states in India and each have their unique way of dressing. Traditional Indian clothing varies with community, religion and region all across the country. The diverse styles of clothing have attracted the attention of people all around the world. These cloths are vibrant, beautiful, comfortable. Festivals are one of the best ways to get into the depth of Indian culture.

Maharashtra clothing is influenced by traditional Maharashtrian culture.Women of Maharashtra state compose a 9 yard saree(choli and saree). This state displays a wide range of costumes suitable for special occasions.

Tamilian women dressed so properly in daily routine as she has to go to the wedding. They prefer to drape her heavy (kanchipuram sari ) around herself, it’s 5-6 yard in length,the lower part of the calf uncovered, an extra bit of pallu created thereby wound around her waist.

IT IS a long loose shirt which hangs down below the knees along with a white turban tied on a skull cap, a close-fitting trousers and lace less shoes called Gurgabi.

Clothing of Rajasthan is really outstanding and lively.rajasthan women use to wear a long skirt called Ghaghra, Choli or Kurti (blouses and tops) with an Odhani. Ghaghra reaches above the ankle that has a narrow waist increasing the flared and width to the base.

Assamese women use to wear motif-rich mekhela chador, a two-piece garment. Mekhela is the skirt the lower part and chador the upper part draped with pleats. Traditionally, made either from muga or paat.Bihu dancer use to wear it.

Traditional dress of haryana Women IS different.They use to wear a ‘Damaan’, an ankle length skirt, “Kurti”a waist length shirt and ‘Chunder’ which is a long piece of cloth that the women use to cover their head.

GUJARATI Women Use To wear ‘chaniya’ which is a colorful petticoat usually embroidered with glass work, an embroidered blouse called as ‘choli’ or ‘polku’ along with ‘odhani’, a cloth covering the body and the head from the back.

Phulkari is the punjabi traditional costumes.women wear amazing phulkari known as bagh with unique kind of embroidery made up of brilliant colours and attractive patterns.

Traditional clothing of women in Kerala is mundum neriyathum. It consists of two pieces of cloth. Mundu is a one-piece cloth draped on the lower part of the body while neriyathu is world over a blouse and could be worn in either the traditional style with the neriyathum tucked inside the blouse, or in the modern style with the neriyathum worn over the left shoulder. It is often referred only as “Kerala saree”.
